Love of Reading Online Workshop for Teachers - Fun Family Phonics - (3-hour & 10-hour workshop)

Two Instructional ONLINE Fun Family Phonics workshops for teaching children to LOVE reading.

Enjoy these workshops in the convenience and safety of your own home.

You have 2 weeks to watch the videos at any time in your home. You will jot down any questions you would like to ask. Prior to the workshops, I shall mail you a binder of notes for you to use as you watch the workshops.

At the end of the two weeks, you will choose a time for me to call you and talk on the phone about your comments and questions. Then I will send you a certificate. 

If you are ECE trained, I will send you a certificate for 3 or 10 hours towards your ECE recertification certificate.

3-hour workshop (Preschool-Kindergarten) - Fee: $30.00

Teachers learn how to make the alphabet letters come to life for their students in a playful environment.

The program begins with ear training games for children who are 2 or 3 years old.

In Book 1 and Book 1A, humorous stories and pictures about “Dave Fun” and his family link the sounds and shapes of the lower and uppercase letters. Singing the alphabet songs for each book, together with actions, pictures, and games, all reinforce learning.

In Book 2 Dave discovers word building through rhymes and songs.

Children love this program.  It is ideal for students whose first language is not English.

10-hour workshop (Preschool-Grade 2) – Fee: $90.00

10 hours towards ECE recertification

This workshop is divided into 4 videos, the first of which is the 3-hour workshop for the Preschool-Kindergarten.   

 I suggest the participants pause the videos and take breaks.

In Book 3, Dave imagines a fair where each phonetic family group comes to life in one of the play areas of “Fun Family Fair”.  A large poster of the fair is the focal point for the phonics part of the program.

Sing along songs for each area of the fair together with teaching pictures, worksheets, and stories make learning to read an exciting adventure.  My 20 little Reading Books are at the heart of the program.  I have developed these books so that they introduce the phonic structures in the same order as they occur in Book 3.   I introduce all the new words in each book through sentence strips and flashcards that tell an abbreviated version of the story.  Your students will complete a page in their workbook containing the sentence strips.  They use the page to practice reading, printing, spelling and drawing.  When children read each book, they feel so successful because they have learned all the words in the story.

You will be amazed at how quickly children learn to love reading. 

This Language Arts Program also includes creative writing and Readers Theatre.

About the Instructor:  Muriel Endersby

Muriel has taught preschool and primary grade children in England, Africa, India, and Canada.  She has also provided instruction in China for teachers of English.  She owned Mountain View Preschool on White Rock for many years before devoting herself to authoring and publishing the “Fun Family Phonics Literacy Program”.  She has sold over eleven thousand copies of her first book.

 Muriel is a renowned early childhood college instructor and workshop presenter.  She frequently presents her ideas and materials on early literacy to teachers in Preschool, Elementary school, Homeschool, and College in Canada.  She also trains teachers to be tutors in her program. 

 Muriel graduated in Education from the University of London, England, and received training in Linguistics and ESL at the University of British Columbia. She has both her ECE and Teachers’ Certificate for B.C. 

 Muriel is the recipient of “The Woman of Wisdom and Passion Award” by Delta Kappa Gamma Society in Vancouver.  This was for her work in training teachers to use her program in DALIT schools in India.
